The Recipes


I decided to make these little cheesy biscuits during the day today.  They really do just take like salty, cheesy, peppery goodness.  Of course, I munched on one this afternoon, but check out the next recipe for a whole new idea of what to do with them.  This recipe only makes five of these little clouds of delight, so trust me, you'll eat them this weekend - 1 or 2 right now; 1 or 2 with dinner tonight, and maybe one tomorrow morning.


Serves: 1      Cooking Time: 1 hour, with time to walk away      Difficulty: Doable on a weeknight


- 1/3 c. water

- 1 T. unsalted butter

- 1 tsp. salt

- 1/3 c. flour

- 1 egg

- 1/3 shredded gruyere cheese

- black pepper


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.  Lay a piece of parchment paper on top.

Bring the water, salt and butter to a simmer on the stove.  Whisk and stir in the flour until a ball forms.

Transfer the dough to a bowl and use a mixer to blend in one egg.  Fold in the cheese and as much pepper as you like.  Scoop into five small balls on the parchment-lined cooking sheet.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.  Remove and let cool on a warming rack.  These can be reheated or kept warm in a low oven if not being served right away.
