Some of you may be aware that every year, the Cherry Blossoms bloom around the last week of March or the beginning of April. They're beautiful, and bring with them busloads of tourists. Of course, sometimes we get a frost and even carefully made travel plans are for naught as the tourists arrive only to miss the week.
For any of you living in a place that has a strong level of tourism, you know what it's like to be "invaded," and that's exactly when you need to pour yourself a nice cocktail. This recipe will leave you with simple syrup leftover in case the tourists bug you tomorrow, too.
Cherry Blossom Martini
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 sprig mint
- 3-4 raspberries
- 1 1/2 oz. raspberry vodka
- 1/2 oz. peach schnapps
- 2 oz. club soda
Heat the sugar, mint and water on the stove until the sugar dissolves. Strain out the mint and cool completely.
Drop the raspberries into a martini glass and smash them lightly with a spoon.
Shake the vodka and peach schnapps over ice and strain into the glass. Top with the club soda.
