Marinated Flank Steak and Snow Peas

I randomly had a can of soda in my fridge that I very rarely drink, so what better to do with it than cook?

Marinated Flank Steak with Snow Peas

- 1 flank steak (mine was about 7 oz.)
- 1 c. cola
- 1 T. soy sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2-in. piece of ginger
- 1 T. of honey
- salt
- pinch of crushed red pepper
- pepper
- 1/2 c. snow peas
- 1/4 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 T. of sesame seeds

Combine the cola, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and red pepper in a plastic storage bag.  Put the steak in the bag and close it.  Massage the steak to make sure the marinade is all over the steak.  Place the bag in the refrigerator and let the steak marinade for at least two hours and up to twelve.

Remove the bag from the refrigerator and let the steak and let it come to room temperature.

Heat 1 T. of olive oil in a skillet.  Remove the steak from the marinade and season it with salt and pepper.  Once the oil is heated, add the steak to a pan and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side for medium rare.

Once the steak is cooking, bring a pot of water to a boil.  Salt the water and drop in the snow peas.  Let them cook for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.  Mix together the snow peas and red peppers.  Season with another dash of soy sauce.

When the steak is done cooking, let it rest for at least five minutes.  Slice the steak against the grain to help it stay tender.

Plate the snow peas and steak and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
