Asian Style Turkey Meatballs

I served these as an appetizer, but you could easily make them bigger, serve them in some broth, or make a meatloaf out of the meat.  This recipe made about 20 mini meatballs.

Asian Style Turkey Meatballs

- 2/3 lb. ground turkey
- 1/3 c. panko bread crumbs
- 3 T. soy sauce
- large handful of cilantro, chopped
- 1 T. sambal oelek
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4-in. piece of ginger, grated
- drizzle of sesame oil
- 1 T. fish sauce
- 1 T. honey
- 1 scallion, chopped

Preheat the oven to 375.

Combine the turkey, panko, 2 T. of soy, cilantro, sambal oelek, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil in a bowl.  Combine thoroughly with your hands, then roll into equal-sized meatballs.  You can use a melon baller to assure equal sizing.  Put a cooling rack on top of a cookie sheet.  Position the meatballs equally on the cooling rack.  Transfer to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.

In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, fish sauce, and remaining tablespoon of soy.  Add in the scallions.  Either pour the sauce over the meatballs, or serve alongside.
