Asian Marinated Steak with Broccoli

I cooked up a storm tonight, pre-soaking beans to cook with tomorrow.  Stay tuned for those dishes - yep, if I'm going to soak some beans, I'm making more than one meal.

Asian Marinated Steak Broccoli

- 1 piece of steak (I used an 8 oz. top round)
- 3 T. soy sauce, divided into thirds
- 1 garlic clove, minced and divided
- 1 T. honey
- 1 T. Sriracha or other hot sauce
- 1/2 c. broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, peeled and cut into disks
- 1 scallion, sliced on the bias
- 1 T. white sesame seeds
- pepper
- drizzle sesame oil
- peanut oil

Place the steak in a storage bag with 2 T. of soy, the honey, Sriracha, and 1/2 of the garlic.  Marinate for 20 minutes.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.  Add the carrots and boil for five minutes.  Add the broccoli and cook two minutes more.  Drain and set aside.

Heat the peanut and sesame oil in an oven-safe skillet.  Add the steak, searing for 1-2 minutes per side to establish a nice crust.  My steak was fairly thin, so I transferred it to the oven for only six minutes.  Let it rest.

Return the skillet to the stovetop.  Add the broccoli and carrots.  Add the remaining garlic and toss to coat, cooking for 2 minutes.  Plate the vegetables, slice the steak and plate it as well.  Garnish with the sesame seeds and scallion.
