Spiced Nuts

This would be perfect as an appetizer at a party, or just to snack on throughout the week.  Never again will you spend way too much money for those little plastic packages you find at festivals and farmers' markets.



Spiced Nuts

Ingredients:

- 4 T. of butter
- 2 c. of any combination of nuts
- 1 T. cinnamon
- 1 T. cayenne pepper
- 1 T. cumin
- 1/3 c. brown sugar

Add the nuts to a dry skillet.  Let them toast over medium heat for 3-4 minutes; just until they become fragrant.  Toss them occasionally to ensure they toast evenly.  Remove the nuts and set aside.

Melt the butter in a large skillet.  Once it is melted, add in the spices and let them toast for 1-2 minutes.  Add in the brown sugar and a tablespoon or two of water.  Stir to combine.  Add in the nuts and toss to coat.  Pour the nuts onto a cookie sheet and let them dry for 1 hour before transferring to a storage container.
